Together at the Zoo
October 2025 - May 2026

As Neurotech's first year incorporating a children's book subdivision, the project was a learning process. Our team begun by brainstorming and researching different assistive and adaptive technologies and implementing them into five characters. With brief descriptions, I began designing characters and backgrounds (which were inspired by our trip to the Sacramento Zoo). I did my own research to ensure that each disability and technology was represented accurately and respectfully.

With my second designer, Juliana, we collaborated with the writing team to produce storyboards to build layouts. As the writing team refined their work, I begun illustrating the book. Spanning across 3 quarters, I solely illustrated & rendered the 40-page book across 7 scenes using Photoshop & Krita.

In the final stages, I worked on final tweaks, worked with Juliana to edit layouts in inDesign, and the team sent our product to Amazon for self-publishing! We also presented the manuscript to the California Neurotech Conference of 600+ students.
